The Door
Every sound in The Door is generated by my studio door, which creaks, and when opened and closed at different speeds and tensions, speaks eloquently and with incredible range. My studio door modulates its voice from a pleasurable purr to cries of complaint, with a low sensual growl in between. A universe of expression revolves in its unoiled hinges. I coaxed, cajoled, jarred and teased my door into producing a wide variety of tones and textures, which I then orchestrated into this composition.
